Make/Do Work Party!
Time & Location
About the Event
We are mid-year through and still have a bunch of infrastructure to build to make our farm work! We have built our chicken coop and indoor run, extended our planting beds, and created more intentional space for plants and people.
But we still have much to do! Help us in the neighborly spirit of barn raisings, and learn some fun stuff in the process.
We will serve a vegetarian lunch and herbal teas around 1 PM. When you RSVP, please let us know what hours you will be here, and if you will be eating with us.
On this day, we are planning to host volunteers to do the following:
1. weeding and sheet mulching the garden beds
2. building a goose house (for 2022 goslings!)
3. building a dog house for our trusty doggo
4. creating a portable safe passage for our chickens to go from their indoor run to their pasture netting
5. creating a netting and shade to deter aerial predators from pastured chickens
Remember your hat and boots! We have natural bug spray, extra gloves, and some tools here at the farm for volunteers. Bringing extra garden tools, gloves, knee pads are always welcome.
In addition to work and lunch, Lily will be showing folks around, talking about the plants on site and herbalism, and we can introduce you to our chicken flock! Volunteers can buy organic pastured eggs for $2 a dozen on work days!
We will be social distancing, wearing masks when close, and being outdoors. This D variant has us worried, because even though we are fully vaccinated, we know we could get it and spread it. We are sad to report one of our fully vaccinated friends is in a coma right now on life support. Please be safe, friends.
